To say that there are issues to be addressed and problems to be solved in our world today is to state the obvious. Some of the ones often mentioned are global warming, race relations, abortions, human sexuality and marriage. As the rhetoric rises and falls on these topics, where do we seek answers and explore solutions? Politics is probably the first place. We can add culture and social media. Is there a place where we are not seeking answers or exploring solutions? I don't think we are seriously seeking answers from the Bible, God's holy word.

The fact that we are not looking to the Bible for answers and solutions is unfortunate to say the least. The Bible has the power to inform and instruct us in all matters of life. Consider just one of the topics mentioned above, the topic of global warming. Is it real? Does the Bible answer the question as to whether or not global warming is real or just how serious it may be? I don't think so, but the Bible does give us foundational truth that certainly has the power and potential to relate to and affect global warming. That foundational truth is found in Genesis 1:27, 28, "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God, He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.'"

In this passage of scripture, God gave man the power to subdue the earth. Subdue means to prevail against or reign. In relationship to sea life and the animals, man was given dominion. Dominion implies control. Subdue and dominion are stewardship terms. Man was not given freedom of exploitation but rather, the responsibility of a caretaker. What have we done and what are we doing to God's creation? In relationship to global warming, whatever we may believe or say about it, would it be the issue that it potentially is if we had fulfilled the stewardship responsibility that God gave us in the very beginning? I think not!

I believe that God's word has foundational truth for all the answers and solutions we are seeking. The theme of this website where I am publishing this blog is "The Unequaled Power and Potential of Biblical Truth." Do answers and solutions exist for the multiple issues of our day? My answer is an unequivocal yes. To find them we must start with the foundational truth of the Bible. Applying the foundational truths of the Bible to all the issues of our day would serve as preventative medicine. These foundational truths would bring needed clarity. They would rightly assign responsibility and accountability.

The foundations truths of God's word would not immediately transform our world into the Garden of Eden. They would enable our world to function as God intends it to function, and yes, they would greatly impact the issues of the day.
